I know that this is an old saying but it's a complete fallacy and utterly unscriptural. If this is the war that results in the destruction of Damascus as outlined in Isaiah 17, then there's going to be a massive amount of casualties on both sides. Those casualties on the Israeli side are going to result in this attitude being reexamined and discarded by the Jewish survivors, as illustrated in verses 7 & 8 of Isaiah 17.
Isa 17:7-8 KJV - At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel. And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect [that] which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.
I know you meant well, but the way we think about things is about to radically change in this world.
Zechariah 14
Now this will be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth.
