Moderation, on a personal level, is a virtue. It leads to good health. The ancient Greeks knew this as it was stated as the Golden Mean. Immoderate behavior can lead to all kinds of disasters and as a lifestyle was seen as a personal failing or character flaw. But I doubt this is what Rush is talking about.
