All eyes will be on the national political stage Wednesday night as Texas Gov. Rick Perry, the newly anointed GOP favorite, must navigate pitfalls, landmines, and broadsides from every quarter during his first Republican presidential debate if he hopes to solidify his frontrunner status.
How well Perry holds up under the pressure will determine who has the inside track to win the nomination. If the former cotton farmer-turned-politico performs well and doesnt stumble, it would go along way toward solidifying the growing momentum that has vaulted him to the top of the GOP pack in recent primary polls.

Very well said.
Thanks for the info. And people might want to remember that being a former Democrat is not a fatal flaw for a presidential candidate—as Ronald Reagan clearly proved.
After the debate Perry will be slipping south to San Diego to meet with some Republicans. It was on local radio but with no specifics I assume it’s a private event.
I wonder how much democrat is still left in Rick Perry..
Something made him a democrat I suspect it was stupidity..
Native base stupidity..
Somebody learned him some things but it may be watered down with democracy..
Democracy was is and always will be Mob Rule by mobsters..
He may want to be the head mobster.. like Romney OR Juan McLame..
I don’t suppose ABC, CBS, or NBC will be carrying this.
We’ll see. I’m afraid he might not be great at debates.
Probably as much as President Ronald Reagan had left in him.
Ok, sorry, but I have to point out an error here... Perry “pushing for a sanctuary city law” is baloney. It was all for show. HE killed it in his underhanded way. His corporate sponsors DO NOT want sanctuary city laws and there was no way he could allow it to come to his desk. Not only that, the sanctary city laws he was so outraged about are IDENTICAL to Texas law....making Texas a sanctuary state....and when a reporter challenged him on it, he told the reporter that if he or anyone else tried to equate TX law w/sanctuary city laws, they were skating on thin ice. EVEN AFTER the fact was laid before him and proved they were the same. His response? “Uh, I ....uh...think they’re different.” ...BUT THEY’RE NOT...
NBC News is the aponsor but will be carrying it on MSBBC and CNBC.
Are you serious? This I did not know.
True Reagan remained quite friendly with democrats..
Who, we know now, most democrats were traitors, even then..
“debate is on MSNBC and CNBC at 8 tonight. Put on by NBC news.”
Thank you! We’ve been trying to find it. Philly Inquirer shows The Facebook Obsession and The Last Word listed! Big surprise. We never watch those channels.
NumbersUSA is probably not the best evaluation tool...Palin does excellent and Perry does good on Border Security.
However this group is not only against Illegal Immigration but also for sharp reductions in Legal Immigration.
Why don’t you look at Palin’s actual immigration stance instead of going by NumberUsa grade. Her immigration views are vastly stronger than Perry’s and she has the same letter grade as he, yet her views are very much in line w/Bachmann’s and she’s 2 letters off. Seriously, don’t let others do your thinking for you.
Holy carp, you two. That’s what civil discourse looks like! Good job, guys.
1. Your jobs are all government jobs. Why are you lying to everyone about all of these jobs created?
2. You worked for Al Gore. Please tell us how enjoyable that was.
3. Explain in-state tuition for undocumented residents.
4. Your debt has risen dramatically. Why?
5. As you know, the prime minister of Sabanadastigan recently published a scathing report on the GDP of neighboring Burgasticanzan. What will you say to their leaders and what are their names? And what year were they born?
5PM Pacific :-)
You are flat out WRONG Hose!
EVERY Texan over 50, including myself, was once a Democrat. It has to do with the great unpleasantness that occurred some years ago now and the period that followed when we were under military rule. That party left us we didn’t leave it!
Most of us were never liberal either and Rick Perry surely never was!
IF he shows up.
He’ll be there, along with all the REAL candidates.
