California ready to help combat Texas fires
September 6, 2011
A state fire official told CalCoastNews today that California is ready to respond to a request from Texas authorities should it come as wildfires in the Lone Star State explode in dry, windy conditions.
Texas Forest Service officials are asking for help from firefighting agencies nationwide in the battle against a series of 181 raging blazes that already have killed four people including a mother and her 18-month-old child, consumed nearly 120,000 acres, gobbled up 700 homes, and show few signs of containment. Today is the 294th consecutive day of wildfires in Texas, according to officials. (CNN)
Texas has come to us as well, and we have given them a rundown of our equipment, Daniel Berland said, a spokesman for Cal Fire in Sacramento. At this time, we have not officially received a request from them, but we have talked to them about what we can provide, knowing that we, too, are in the middle of fire season, and have been busy this last couple of weeks, especially.
But if we do get a request, well be happy to help.
Authorities said more than 2,000 firefighters are on the job in Texas, but most are volunteers and exhaustion is becoming a major factor.
California has never been too proud to ask for help. When we have big fires, we get firefighters from all over the western US and when they have fires, we send our guys over there.
This is how America is supposed to work.
The feds want Texas to burn to the ground. They want Perry to have his Katrina moment.
“The feds want Texas to burn to the ground.”
The Feds are here and the only other thing they could do is to make it rain.
The interest here seems to be growing, as this was just posted a few minutes ago. But the author is not clear about the alleged political issue.

Air Tankers sitting in Sacramento while Texas burns!!!
Right now their are seven heavy air tankers sitting in Sacramento California doing nothing while all these homes are being lost in Texas. Due to political bickering and arm wresting the premier air tanker in the country is sitting Idle on the ramps due to differences with Aero Union and the Forest Service. Encourage the Forest Service to send these tankers to Texas to help fight these fires! It would be great if Politics were put aside for the time being so these tankers can do what they do best and fight fire!

Disgusting.
Tehachapi brush fire 40% contained as flames burn 13,400 acres http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/09/tehachapi-brush-fire.html
I’m not sure about the source in 24..I have no idea who made that comment.
There MUST be some political issue behind this because I’m sure as I’m breathing Perry said Cali was sending a tanker[s], I felt grateful to Cali for it, too. That was 7:30-8am-ish (central) yesterday morning.
The only other thing I could think of is Perry or somebody didn’t use the right channels/forms? to request it? That doesn’t make much sense because Perry has dealt with disasters before.
Something is wrong here...
Have houses burned in minority neighborhoods? If so, guess what the MSM will do with those images!
It’s tricky at this time of year.
The real fire season starts now and it seems the biggest fires come in around October.
Having these planes nearby and on standby is what keeps what fires start from getting too large and out of control.
If the planes are somewhere else, particularly many hours away the quick response goes away and the fires grow unchecked and then become a major fire quickly. In addition many fires here start in places with no real access short of the air.
Well, according to Cal Fire, "At this time, we have not officially received a request".
we have talked to them about what we can provide, knowing that we, too, are in the middle of fire season, and have been busy this last couple of weeks, especially....But if we do get a request, well be happy to help.
They understand that, and is why Cal Fire told those in Texas:
We have given them a rundown of our equipment, Daniel Berland said, a spokesman for Cal Fire in Sacramento. At this time, we have not officially received a request from them, but we have talked to them about what we can provide, knowing that we, too, are in the middle of fire season, and have been busy this last couple of weeks, especially. No, nothing surprises me anymore.
This thread has four fatalities.
Why not?
I am a Texan and would be grateful indeed.
