There's a bit of difference between your online meetings and vying for POTUS. Perry would be giving up a lot to appear remotely. No candidate would ever do such a thing.
Wait a minute here, 99.999 percent of the audience is watching this remotely electronically on the tube.
When questions are asked of Perry, they could just switch to his live feed. What's the problem with that?
BTW, it wouldn't be "on-line". It would be a direct television feed right into his office, or where ever he wanted it. They've been doing this with television for decades.
She can do whatever she wants on HER OWN TIME, and HER OWN DIME and not the taxpayer's dime like the rest of them while they have local PROBLEMS to take care of.
It could be working out for him quite well - how would you know any different?
so are you trolling for Ron Paul or the Marxist ?
I don’t expect my governor to take care of me.
So much for the image of the tough as nails Texan.
I can’t believe that a few hours of absence is going to make a big difference to the wildfires or the firefighters. The governor is not needed there to make every decision and shouldn’t try to make it seem that way (like the pathetic-looking Junior Obimbo sitting behind his “President of the US” plaque at the Hurricane Center).
My perception is that he doesn’t think he will do well in the debates, so he’d rather just find an excuse not to be there. And rightly or wrongly, I think this will be the perception of many other people, too. (I think he could “attend” remotely via technology, which is the way many people attend board meetings, etc., but I think he really just doesn’t want to attend at all.)
They say that ignorance is bliss, but NOT IN YOUR CASE. You just exposed yourself to be an empty suit keyboard “warrior” all over FR.
It’s obvious that you have NO IDEA what’s going on in Texas with drought and wild fires.
If you are gonna posture, at least check some facts before you do, noob.
I do understand that. What I am driving at, or at least trying to, is a subliminal impression that I believe would be made of any candidate not physically present with the rest. I believe he (or she) would be seen as "less than" the ones who are there.
He / she would lose some advantage of being able to gauge his opponents body language and other visua; and non-verbal cues that are useful in a debate.
Does that make sense?
Commit or quit is right.
Perry should either be spending his full time running for president or he should be performing his duties as the full time governor of Texas.
He needs to quit one and fully commit to the other.
Did I say that I expected my governor to take care of me? Did I say that I am helpless and that I need a politician to take care of me? NO.
You cannot answer my question, can you?

get real !
Sarah Palin is my first choice and I will not criticize Gov. Perry for taking care of his state during an emergency.
I've heard Perry twice in Q & A. Once with Mark Levin, last week. He was getting softballs lobbed by Levin, and I thought he was very mediocre. Second time was the Saturday Town Hall - again softballs, but he did much better.
He's got to have some confidence that goes with front runner status. I'm curious where you get the perception that he's reluctant to debate.
I really don’t care. You were just making excuses anyway.
Fortunately Perry has decided to let the firefighters deal with the fires and he can get back to proving he’s up to the task of being president.
I’m not missing anything. I’ve been hearing about the drought and fires in Texas for many months. Saying that is one thing that set so many off here. But it really set them off when I said that Perry should go on to the debates because a half day won’t make any difference and he can communicate as much as needed with those in charge back in Texas.
And, does Perry now plan to attend the debate? Several have said he does.
And I live in a state that has had epic tornadoes. Texas is not the only state to be hit by Mother Nature.

You're a clueless and childish name caller.
My facts about the Texas fires came from Rick Perry per my post #43. I know what's going on in Texas, and have known for several months per news stories.
You out yourself with all your childish name calling and failure to supply any facts of your own.
These shows aren't even actual “debates”, they are contrived media events, the political equivalent of a predetermined WWF cage matches, except the contenders don't know what storyline is going to be presented..
I will give him a pass, whether he decides to attend or not, at the last moment.
It all depends upon conditions completely beyond his controll.
Frankly, I much prefer neutral controlled events, where all the candidates each respond to the same five-ten questions without benefit of “handlers” or speechwriters.
By that logic you shouldn't make fun of the president for his vacations.
Very few specifics? You aren’t listening to the same speeches I am. I know it’s sometimes hard hear when people are yelling so just read the transcripts.
