White House press secretary Jay Carney was asked by ABC's Jake Tapper to give a response to Teamsters President James Hoffa's controversial comment at yesterday's union rally in Detroit, Michigan in which President Obama also attended.

Tapper asked for the White House's reaction in light of President Obama calling for civility in political rhetoric after the attempted assassination of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.

"First of all, those weren't comments by the president," Carney told Tapper. "The President wasn't there. I mean, he wasn't on stage. He didn't speak for another twenty minutes. He didn't hear it."

"Mr. Hoffa speaks for himself. He speaks for the labor movement," Carney said about the Teamsters President.

"The president speaks for himself. I speak for the president," he added."

"Were the comments appropriate," Carney was asked.

Someone in the press could try asking him who Joe Biden referring to as "barbarians at the gates."

Wait, this is the MSM I'm talking about. Never mind.

Is that all the sincerity Carney can muster?! For gosh sakes, Hoffa had JUST SAID “we are your army Mr. President!” and the obama’s little wuss buddy is trying to say the comment has nothing to do with obama? Of course not, but he is merely the lying mouthpiece of obama.

Mr. Claire Shipman gets his marching orders from Hussein. He speaks for Hussein.

He is a joke, just like his little tin god.

The liberals just can’t admit they endorse what Hoffa said.

And the president certainly doesn’t endorse such violence (left unstated, however) because he didn’t hear it and Obama never met his father’s brother, just one of 0’s illegal alien relatives or former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagove...meh, he saw him once, through the Mt. Palomar telescope, maybe, and Bill Ayers was just a `guy who lived in the neighborhood’,...and on and on and on.

John McCain wasn’t there when Bill Cunningham said, “Barack Hussein Obama.”

I don’t think Hoffa was calling for physical violence. His crude talking was in the context of getting his people out to vote on election day. But given the ridiculous attempt to pin the attack on Congresswoman Giffords on Sarah Palin, I do not not see how the leftists have room to complain.

I think you're stretching to read something into Hoffa's crude remarks that just isn't there at all and never intended to be there. His preceding comments were talking about war, and the unions being part of 0dumb0's army. If I threaten to "take out the SOB's" it's a complete utter fallacy to think that I am talking about an election..... or taking them out to dinner. The union bastard Hoffa is threatening to "take out" Tea Party members & conservatives.... he is talking about physical violence and/or killing them.

I think that most of the union thugs are like schoolyard bullies. Punch 'em back hard in the nose and they will scatter like frightened cowards, and run crying back to mama or in this case the partisan media.

As Pres. Bush said: either your with us or your with the terrorists, as I see it, Carney/Obama Etal: are with the terrorists: the union members!

Yes, Tapper did a good job in grilling Jay Carney, but Carney still deflected & refused to answer the questions from Tapper. If this had happened at a Republican rally, the media & demoRATs would be screaming bloody murder!

Didn’t have to. obambi wrote it... he knew what was to be said.

As incompetent at this admin is, his handlers have some sense to vett the remarks of someone’s introductory remarks, particularly the head of the Teamsters..in Detroit.. to determine if they are “appropriate”. That is, set the tone of the office. So this is all a lot of ho-hah from Carney. Sure, he “didn’t hear it”— riiiight.

The words “take them out” do NOT mean getting people out to vote, not when uttered by a union leader of a union known for thug action, along with the UAW.

These comments were directed at the Tea Party, equating them with the GOP, which they are not. The Tea Party is much feared— they are the small business employers and workers... the same workers that the dems want to have “card check” to unionize a small firm. This is very much calling for physical violence, preferably at a Tea Party rally or better a “pseudo” Tea Party event that is owned by the dems. This is how things are. They are not civil at all, and we had best be on our guard and record everything.

"The President wasn't there. I mean, he wasn't on stage. He didn't speak for another twenty minutes. He didn't hear it."

The dog ate my homework. I was sick that day. My car ran out of gas. I was late for a funeral.

Geez.
