Pamela Geller has been really strong on this stuff. It's amazing that the Lefties can have seen what the 9/11 raiders did, and then sit down to write "guidelines" like these. It would seem that the Occam's best fit is that they actively despise their countrymen and enjoyed seeing them suffer on 9/11, and that they want them to lose their agon with Islamic religious violence.

The word "blowback" would seem to be helpfully loaded with explanatory power for this twisted worldview.

The guidelines, adopted less than a month after the terrorist attacks, urge journalists to "take steps against racial profiling in their coverage of the war on terrorism and to reaffirm their commitment to use language that is informative and not inflammatory." Some of the recommended steps include seeking out people from a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds when photographing Americans mourning those lost in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania, and seeking truth through a variety of voices and perspectives that help audiences understand the complexities of the tragic events.

First, they want journalists to muffle, filter, and detune the suffering of true victims.

Then they want to use bracketing techniques to link the violent perps with "nice" Moslems and put up lots of puffy, gauzy, feel-good stuff about "good Moslems" who must have been seriously provoked if some of their "extreme" bretheren somehow reacted in "blowback" mode against our essential and endogamous, bred-in-the-bone evil.
