Some of this stuff I’d already heard about.
It was clear when she was suddenly hooked up with Tom Hayden,, just what the internal logic was. It was equally clear over time that his political career went literally nowhere, and had to be financed by somebody, some believer, and that believer would be Jane Fonda. Hayden was an outright Communist who’d set up living arrangements long before he met Fonda, like “The Red Family”, out in the Bay Area. These people never were any good, they never had any perspective on anything, and they were very eager to make a career out of the whole mid and late 60s social turnoil.
Unfortunately for them, the marketplace usually has better ideas and wins in the end. The only qualification I’d have about this piece is that it refers to Ted Turner as “a right-wing billionaire”. He’s anything but right-wing, as has been obvious for years.
This is the first time I’ve felt sorry for her. She let herself be used in some of the most awful ways. I had no idea she was this messed up and insecure. Maybe I just never paid attention.

She puts other known airheads to shame. Paris Hilton is Marie Curie compared to Jane Fonda. What bothers me is this shallow excuse of a ‘human being’ (again loosely) wants to be a role model for women telling them how to age with grace...after she had gazillions of plastic surgeries. What a role model. I’d advocate for her a lobotomy, but to be successful you must have a brain first, in her case she has nothing in her head”
