Texas is burning and you are stooping to the low life mode of making politics out of it.

(Reuters) - Sixty separate wildfires, whipped by strong gusts of wind spawned by Tropical Storm Lee as it moved north, burned across Texas on Monday, destroying homes and leaving at least two people dead, authorities said.

....
The Texas Forest Service said it responded on Sunday to 63 new fires that burned 32,936 acres, including 22 new large fires.

“Reports indicate possibly 300 homes have been destroyed. MODIS satellite image indicates the fire has jumped Highway 95 and is approximately 25,000 acres,” the service said.

In the Steiner Ranch area of Austin, a separate fire has forced the evacuation of some 1,000 homes.

About 200 homes had to be evacuated due to a brush fire in the Austin suburb of Pflugerville. Another 150 homes were evacuated in Longview, in east Texas. A dozen homes were also under mandatory evacuation on Monday morning near Tyler in east Texas

More than 3.6 million acres in the state have been scorched since the wildfire season began in November, fed by a continuing drought which has caused more than $5 billion in damage to the state’s agricultural industry and shows no sign of easing any time soon.

Well we do still have a presidential nomination process going on...and I’m simply pointing out how fortunate he is to have a way to skip the debate.

That’s not politics...politics would be saying that he had something to do with the fires - maybe his land-use polices, fire department cuts, etc.

But since I have no clue either way, I simply assume (probably rightly) that the fires are nothing more than the result of the extended drought that we’ve had to deal with since last winter.

But the story was about the debate and the fires, so I didn’t see why I shouldn’t be permitted to point out his luck. If the story was just about the fires (or just about the debate, without mentioning the fires), there’s no way in hell I would have made my comment.
