Just forget Diogenesis, he is on drugs, drunk or just feeble minded. At least he knows how to post maps and some pictures. Good for him.
Still makes me angry but you can’t argue with a fool and you shouldn’t let him upset you.
Listening to the scanner in Travis County... still bad, crews are fighting a very hard battle. East Texas is bad as well but getting less coverage. If this persists, and the weather forecast says it will, areas like the woods of N. Houston will be a disaster.

I have nothing to do with the second post. I responded to a post that brought up by implication Sarah Palin.
As it turns out not a very bright post either as itpertains to his candidate.
Please get your facts straight before posting to me.

I hear you. Though the western fringes of TS Lee helped us out this weekend, I have never seen a drought of this magnitude in my life. And I can remember back close to 45- 50 years.

Huh? He’s being paid to be governor is what I clearly meant.
“Do you think if a person already holds public office they shouldnt run for higher office? “
Yes that is what I think. Maybe if there is only a little amount of time left in their term or if it’s just for a couple of months for the VP spot.
There are over 300 million people here in the USA, there would be no shortage of candidates.

The great thing about our Republic is that our Founders created a system whereby WE... the electorate... get to decide the answer to that question. Primaries are messy and mean spirited... especially today... with some of the progressives seated in positions of party power. We must allow the process to work... and it will work... or we might as well allow Gallup to select our leaders and just stop holding elections all together.

It was OBVIOUS that Perry wasn’t even close to being ready for a debate. He’s just lucky as hell that the fires broke out in Texas to give him an excuse to bail.
...but then his entire political career has been made of pure luck - but I don’t think that can continue to hold up through the primary process...we have a way of weeding out the idiots.

Thanks to all of you who have asked ones to cut out the politicking at this time.
People’s lives are in danger! A young mother and her infant daughter died when flames engulfed their trailer yesterday east of Dallas.
I learned last night my friend and her husband lost their home to fire yesterday in Bastrop. They had 5 minutes warning to leave and left with two cars, their granddaughter, and their pets. All else was lost. But they are safe and that is what matters.
It breaks my heart to hear of all the suffering of my fellow Texans.
Can we all just at this time come together and offer prayers for those who still are in harm’s way? A prayer for ones who have died? A prayer for our exhausted wonderful firefighters? A prayer for Texas?

You know, if the poster in #2 hadn’t posted his stupid crap the thread could have been about what is a growing disaster for a whole lot of people.
If you would read the thread you would see that Perry has been on the job in dealing with this and fighting the 0bama regime for DENYING the federal disaster declaration for months.
This latest round of fires started late yesterday thanks to getting the winds only from TS Lee. Texas is in the worst drought in years. They desperately need a drought busting TS and all they got were the winds and no rain. Those winds started the fires.
There are posters in this thread who are on standby for evacuation and all the damn drones for a particular non-candidate could do was stir up the politics crap. There is a time and place for politics, this isn’t one of them. For all you who are whining about vetting him for office, this is a good opportunity to see how he handles natural disasters. God knows the POS in the WH doesn’t have a clue.
The thing is, he can do his job because he didn’t leave office. I mean, when Palin was stumping for the VP election nobody had a problem with her for “shirking her duties while running for higher office”. Had there been a natural disaster happen during the campaign she could have done what Perry is doing, leave the campaigning and do her job.

You Palinites are really showing your colors today. Keep up the good work. And leave your Texas residency too.... we don't need people like you!!!!

Did you mind it when Palin was campaigning for VP while still the governor? If you didn’t then you are being a hypocrite.

Numerous wildfires are burning across the region due to dry conditions and high winds.
Here is the latest from the Texas Forest Service:
Leon County
3,000-4,000 acres have burned in the Robbins/Concord area. About 60 homes have been evacuated and firefighters continue to battle fires over 1,500 acres.
The fires are just north of the Leon community of Flynn (north of Normangee). Because of strong winds from the north, firefighters are concentrating their efforts to insure the flames don't spread into Flynn.
Evacuations remain in place for residents east of FM 1147 through country roads 427 and 428, all of CR 495, as well as CR 491, 496 485 and all the way over to FM 39.
The fire is about 30% contained and no injuries have been reported.
---------------------
Bastrop
The largest fire by far is the Bastrop fire. It began Sunday afternoon continues to spread. At this point there is still no containment and at least 17,500 acres have burned. Satellite images indicate that the fire has jumped Highway 95. The fire started in the Lost Pines area just northeast of Bastrop and has moved unchecked for at least 16 miles to the South and has jumped the Colorado River twice.
Heavy airtankers and single-engine airtankers have been brought in to assist. The Circle D, K.C. Estates, Pine Forest, Colovista and Tahitian Village subdivision have been evacuated. Firefighters are trying to hold the fire at FM 2571. Reports indicate possibly 300 homes have been destroyed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Houston County
200 acres have burned East of Crockett. Fifteen homes were threatened. _______________
_______________________________________ Fires Under Control
Brazos County
An early morning grass fire that destroyed nearly 10 acres in Brazos County is under control this morning.
According to officials, nearly 10 acres were destroyed in a fire that started around 3 A-M near Macey Road and Old Bundick Road when a barn caught on fire.
The fire spread quickly and there were reports of a downed power line but B-T-U was able to killed power to that line.
Evacuations were not ordered, but residents were asked to remain on the alert.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Walker County
The fire that began in Northwestern Walker county Sunday afternoon is now fully contained.
Officials say the Pinedale Fire burned 150-acres and forced the closure of F-M 1696 along with the north and southbound lanes if I-45.
All of the roadways are now open.
The fire cause the residents of about 100 homes to be evacuated.
It took 18 fire departments from the surrounding are to fight the fire and fortunately, there were no reported injuries or structures lost.

So in your eyes Palin had no decency because she didn't resign to run as McCain's VP but accepted checks from Alaska as governor?
Palin waited until she lost, then she quit her job as Governor.
By the way, I had no problem with Palin running as VP while sitting Governor, I have a huge problem with her quitting before her term was up because she didn't want to be a lame duck (since she wasn't running again)
There is not much more bush league than that in my opinion.

Wait, so you didn’t post about Rick Perry “shirking his duties” as Texas governor? Did somebody hack into you account and post it, then?

No it was only 2 months and she was called by her party. I also wouldn’t mind if it’s near the end of the person’s term.
Please note I didn’t bring this up, a Perry supporter did. I didn’t mention Palin or post at all except in response to the Perry supporter.
I have no problem with Perry skipping SC and heading back to TX. I think it’s the right thing to do.
