Some FReeper actually use the excuse that Al Gore was a "conservative" back then. lol. Which is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard. He might have taken certain less lefty positions on a few issues (very few, and ones the Prez had no real input on) to make him different than other Dem primary candidates but he never had any intention of voting that way. Perry still defends his support of Gore. Can you believe that? He used SDI for a reason, although Al Gore had begun to oppose SDI before he kicked off that campaign.
