Palin On Politicians And Crony Capitalism: "I'm Not For Sale"

Former Governor Sarah Palin gave the keynote speech at a Tea Party rally in Indianola, Iowa on Saturday afternoon.

"We sent a new class of leaders to DC, but immediately the permanent political class, they tried to co-opt them. Because the reality is we are governed by a permanent political class, until we change that," Palin said about career politicians. "They talk about massive, unsustainable debt and yet they keep incurring more. They spend, they print, they borrow, they spend more, and they stick us with the bill. Then they pat their own backs and they claim that they faced and solved the debt crisis that they got us in."

On crony capitalism: "So many of them, they arrive in Washington, DC of modest means and then miraculously throughout the years they end up becoming very, very wealthy. Well, it's because they derive power and their wealth from their access to our money, to taxpayer dollars."

"They use it to bail out their friends on Wall Street. And their corporate cronies. And to reward contributors. And to buy votes via earmarks. There is so much waste. And there is a name for this. It's called 'corporate crony capitalism,'" she said.

“Like you, I’m not for sale. I believe in the free market and that is why I detest crony capitalism. And Barack Obama has shown us cronyism on steroids. It will lead to our downfall if we don’t stop it now.”

The speech, roughly 40 minutes, ranged from politics to policy. Palin made sure to address reforming taxes and entitlements. Palin called for eliminating all federal corporate income taxes and called entitlement reform "our duty."

I though she would announce today...maybe Monday...It is now or never....even if she looses the primary it would create a lot of excitement...it is win win for her..

That would be great .... if this election was about HER.

Really, if she's afraid to play the game in the GOP and announce that she's running for the GOP presidential nomination then she needs to back off and return to Greta's show.

If she doesn't then all she'll do is split the party and usher in a second, more frightening Obama term.

But maybe that's a "win-win" for Palin, too.

It's past time for her to make a decision. Whatever it is, she needs to make it.

You under estimate the number of $50 contributors standing by. Do you think Sarah Pac is hurting for money or that she is using personal funds for her current activity?

Establishment pols do not sleep well at night.

Yes they are. That’s called true capitalism. I make it you buy it, or not. Why is that so hard to understand.

She will attract high numbers of "independents" and "disaffecteds" if she decides to run. There will be folks who haven't voted in 25years marking their ballots for Palin. She'll have no trouble raising money either.

She is smart. People who believe they're independent or in the middle (usually brainwashed lefties) always complain about one thing the most: There's too many loopholes for the "rich". Pointing out that crony capitalism IS the problem and not necessarily tax policy very well may satisfy their desire to put the screws to the rich. They maybe couldn't define it but crony capitalism and the corruption of it is really what they're concerned about.

I think you're absolutely right.
