Because they WANT it to be so.
Anything to help the liberal anti-Perry ‘narrative’. I’ve got the picks of Sarah smiling with some college-aged “Americans for Perry” t-shirt wearers to suggest otherwise.

No, because those are the facts. The top two private (non-GOP) donators are problematic because they are moderates and one of them has a major foundation pushing many liberal policies including Amnesty.

Keep in mind that his is from 2004. I'll have to look for something more recent.

Harold Simmons and Bob Perry are real problems as they are definitely not conservatives.

This may be the smoking gun that kicks Perry out of the race.

Then there is the historic fact that businessmen have always opposed immigration restrictions. They went along with the restrictions in the 1920s because of a fear of radical communism.

I don’t know all the companies, but two of the top seven (Bob Perry the home builder and Pilgrim’s Pride Poultry) are dependent on illegal immigrant labor.

Yes. And people who are successful enough to make the kind of cash that it takes to get that much disposable income to give away, back Perry.

Clearly he's pond scum.

Sarah gave a good speech today.

But, you know what, if you've being paying attention, we got a speech maker in the White House.

In the Republican field, sycophants notwithstanding, Herman Cain gives better speeches, is Smarter by an order of magnitude, and has a more accomplished resume.....

Are we making him President?

Facts are persistent, stubborn things, you just can't wish them away by sticking your head in the sand.

Dude...those are some serious donors.

You don't give that kind of money without expecting something in return. Mere personal philosophy is not likely to motivate that man business folks to give up that kind of money.

I'd bet a little research would show they all give to "winners"...GOP AND Dim.

These folks buy favor and specific political things.

fact is ..a bunch of those folks you are trying to smear...for whatever reason as Perry donators are decent folks and conservative

where do you get off acting like big donors are a sin?

my dad was a Reagan and Bush I pioneer..very conservative...regretted Bush I a bit but there was never much choice in that one

JR says he can get behind Perry?

IS JR bad guy too?...not conservative?

You’re smarter than this...Palin will take big money too if she ever gets around to running...rhetoric to the contrary

or she will get blitzed in advertising

Will you also post the names and amounts that went to Perry’s opponent in that race, which after all was for the Governor of TEXAS, and which was almost exclusively FROM Texans and Texas enterprises? I would expect to see some overlap.

“Harold Simmons and Bob Perry are real problems as they are definitely not conservatives. “

OMG, what a dumb comment. PERRY HAS GIVEN MORE MONEY TO SUPPORT CONSERVATIVE CAUSES THAN ANY OTHER TEXAN.

You can thank Bob Perry for sponsoring MANY conservative and Republican politicians and causes, including helping out the Swift-Vets in 2004. Bob Perry was a longtime supporter of George W. Bush, donated $4.45 million to the Swift-Boat veterans cause, and many other causes. He was behind Texans for Lawsuit Reform and other groups as well...

Highlights of BOB Perry’s political contributions:

Perry contributed $46,000 to George W. Bush’s 1994 and 1998 campaigns for Texas Governor. He has contributed the maximum allowable $2,000 to Bush’s current reelection.

Perry was the largest individual contributor to the Texas Republican Party during the recent 2002-election cycle (calendar 2001 & 2002) giving $905,000.

Perry is Republican Governor Rick Perry’s (no relation) largest patron, having contributed $225,000 since 2001.

Perry was the largest individual contributor to Republican Lt. Governor David Dewhurst’s 2002 campaign, giving $115,000.

Perry was the largest individual contributor to Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott’s 2002 campaign, giving $387,600. Perry’s wife Doylene gave Abbott an additional $150,000.

Perry was the second largest individual contributor to Republican Comptroller Carole Strayhorn’s 2002 campaign, giving $100,000.

Perry was the largest contributor to Tom DeLay’s Texans for a Republican Majority PAC (TRMPAC) giving $165,000 in the 2002 election cycle. TRMPAC is currently the subject of a criminal investigation by a Travis Country grand jury for allegedly misusing corporate contributions in the 2002 state elections.

Perry was the single largest contributor to the Texas Association of Business’ PAC in the 2002, giving $105,000. The Association is also under criminal investigation for misuse of corporate funds in the 2002 Texas elections.

Perry contributed a total of $595,500 directly to the campaigns of 23 GOP legislative candidates in the 2002 cycle, including the 21-candidate slate supported by TRMPAC.

Perry contributed $95,000 to Tom DeLay’s Republican Majority Issues PAC in 2001.

Perry has been a primary funder of efforts to limit civil liability in Texas, contributing $415,000 to Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC, the state’s largest non-party political committee.
