As for electronically policing the border, that might work unless we have a liberal jackarse in the White House who decides end the "virtual fence".
A wall/fence would be just as effective regardless who was in office. It's worked in San Diego and would work elsewhere.
It’s sure a lot easier to watch a citywide fence for attempts to scale it, than one that cuts across vast swaths of desolate countryside.
