http://markraff.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/dead-sea-fence.jpg ~ neat shot of a piece of fence along the Jordan where the river runs into the Dead Sea. Little appreciated by outsiders every single drop of water flowing in the Jordan is already spoken for by the downstream users and is fully encumbered by laws of ownership, municipal authority, national laws, and international treaties and agreements. Where they don’t have a fence there are guys who are watching what you do and may shoot you!

According to the map posted at #198, there isn't a security fence along the Jordan River border. The Jordan is a relatively small stream, running thru a desert environment, separating two countries -- one of whom has an illegal immigrant problem. In other words, the situation is exactly like the Rio Grande between Texas and Mexico.

But you say there are soldiers overlooking the Jordan, watching...and they may shoot you.

I suggest that Israel has, through experience and common sense, already discovered the optimum solution. All we need to do is copy it.

As Israel demonstrates, a fence along the river isn't a good solution under the circumstances. But surveillance and soldiers with weapons are.
