Imagine machine gun turrets on the fence posts.Hmmm...very effective at keeping people out.
...and keeping people IN.

Round up 500 Michan crop pickers
Would have been more effective to stop them when they passed through Texas.

FYI, the Gardasil scam is not dead and gone. He’s playing smoke and mirrors. Gardasil is being shipped to Texas public schools to be dispensed by the school nurses. Granted, it’s not mandantory like Perry wanted it to be but when it’s offered for FREE!!!! there’s some coersion going on. The Texas taxpayers who are footing this freebie are who it’s hurting.

A lot more effective than a billion dollar chain-link fence, don't you think? Please provide a link that this would be a chain-link fence.

I object to forcing anyone to do things... although ...THAT’s even a difficult position when it comes to legit vaccines.
It’s my understanding that Gardasil has proven benefits.

We produce tons of produce, including the best blueberries in the country, incredible cherries, not to bad celery, and the best Honeycrisp Apples in the land. Of course, that also means ‘seasonal’ migrants come here in droves in March and leave in November.

IMO Perry is little better than Romney. Slick. Disingenuous. And not (very) conservative, or at seems to play at being one when he needs to. Did you see that letter he wrote to Hitlery about Hitlery Care??
Gack.

Hmmm...very effective at keeping people out. ...and keeping people IN. Whenever I want to run down to Mexico for a little R&R, I always find the most remote rock and cactus to hide behind as I sneak across rather than doing it legally at the bridge.

"He's right, of course and anyone who gives this subject more than just a knee-jerk thought will understand why. A fence is a stupid idea. It would cost billions of dollars to build something that could be defeated by ladders, snips and, at most, a battery-powered sawzall.
I've seen the fences along Arizona and California. They're jokes. In some places they're only chain-link. Think a fence is going to stop illegals? Sure, maybe if you build it two hundred feet high, fifty feet wide and have it patrolled by armed guards, alligators, grizzly bears and laser beams. Really think it's going to look like that? Building a fence is nothing more than a "feel-good" response to a very complex issue. Perry understands this and I'll give him props for speaking honestly as opposed to spouting "I'll build the biggest darned fence ever!!!" nonsense just to please voters."
All sounds very reasonable until you check into Perry's history on the issue and start going through the list of his big donors and the other causes they support. Do that, and it's almost impossible not to come to the conclusion that Rick Perry is a paid shill for North American integration - period. Some people can't handle the truth, but it is what it is.

Yes, the wall was built to keep people IN...not to keep people OUT!
The reason they had guards on it was to keep the other guards from trying to escape.
Tell that to the guards who yelled at me...when I didn't realize I had wandered into "no man's land."
As you know, the East Berliners tunneled under the fence...and had to hide the dirt.
You cannot compare the terrain on the TX boder with a fence down the middle of a city. Trust me...because I've seen both!

Have you given any thought to the farms that would go out of business and the jobs that would be lost all along the distribution chain?Wah f-ing wah. It is a cutthroat world. The H1-b program and Affirmative Action are programs designed specifically to wipe me out and put me in poverty. I HAVE NO SYMPATHY.

I see you side-stepped the issue that Perry is forcing taxpayers to pay for it.
Surely, I don’t need to remind you why he pushed for it in the first place. It had more to do with the benefits he was and is currently getting than the benefits little 6th grade girls would have gotten.

There was no "no man's land" on any of the border areas between Western Europe and the East Bloc.
Rather, the Russian designers set the whole system several feet back into their zone of control ~ in some places a whole lot of feet, but still not all that big an area. Remember, the objective was to STOP MOVEMENT, not control small blocks of farmland or forest. And in some places it seemed to me they'd "curved the line" to improve their field of fire on their own side.
Most likely anyone crossing the actual border and stepping in the East Bloc would find an understanding VOPO willing to shout at him to "get back scheistkopf" ~ or a Russian willing to tell him the same thing.
They all had a vested interest in NOT having to go out there to pick up the pieces from some fool who'd blown himself up. It takes more than a day and is not done without risk. There were little poppers everywhere, plus the bigger antipersonnel mines, plus the vehicle mines ~ and nobody on either side of the border wanted to be bothered with any of them going off. Maybe the big dogs in Moscow or Washington did, but not the guys down on the border.

He’s forcing taxpayers to pay for it?
I thought he admitted that it was a mistake? What am I missing?
Apparently California is thinking about doing it.
