Yea, sure. Auburn looks so good against Utah State. SEC = OVERRATED!
Auburn and Georgia are about the worst the SEC can offer up this year. But they’ll still be respectable against a good Utah St. team and a great Boise St. team.
And all of the WAC, PAC10, and BigChumps are playing conference games this week???? The last 5 Nat'l champs were from what conference? When prospects are asked about possible preference, they nearly uniformly state they want to play in the SEC. Step away from the keyboard and go back to your big 12 peewee league.
It's true that most SEC fans seem to think that every SEC team can beat every other team in the country each weekend. But when you talk about Auburn's 2011 team, you may want to consider:
Of Auburn's 29 starters (counting special teams), only four are seniors. Eighteen are sophomores and freshmen, including two true freshmen. I've rarely seen a team where 62+% of its starters are sophomores or younger.
Auburn was also picked to finish in a three-way tied for sixth place in the SEC, which is also like saying they're they're in a three-way tie for eighth-place in the SEC.
When a eighth-place quality team with that many sophomores and freshmen plays its first game of the year, I don't think anybody except an Auburn homer expected a strong Auburn performance.
