The Alaska constitution evidently maintains the mineral rights to land for the State. In addition, while Alaska doesn’t have income tax or sales tax, they do collect state taxes on private property.
It’s true that the oil companies weren’t producing as expected, but she did resort to a contract do-over on the oil companies that had begun under Governor Murkowski.
I’m still trying to understand exactly all that happened with the increased oil profits taxes from 22.5% to 25%, the bids for the pipeline and the leases on the gas fields.
