I will vote for anybody but Obama.

But only an idiot can believe Rick Perry is a conservative.

Perry is very clever if he wants to pay tuition to only those illegals in the process of becoming citizens. Since illegals
can not apply for citizenship, no one gets tuition! Very clever.

My 2 favorites are Bachmann and Cain at this juncture. If you do not
like Perry, by all means do not vote for him in primary. Just
tell us all the good things about your preferred candidate instead
of flaming other republicans.

Lastly, I am against any kind of amnesty for illegals, but
all polls show the #1 issue is economy & jobs. If 0Bama wins
2nd term, illegals will get amnesty one way or other, bet on it.

So guys (ears/tempest), you both seem intent to take the wind out of Perry's sails. In many cases you have merely spouted DNC talking points and made BIG assumptions, then you claim that those responding to you have done the same.

Please take a deep breath and tell us who you support for President and why - it would make for a much more interesting conversation. Else you are nothing but left-wing shills who seem intent in keeping Obama and his policies in the White House via creating a rift in the conservatives.

The proper way to control the border is to patrol the border.

It is the duty of the Federal government, not the State of Texas, to protect the border with other Nations. We Texans have 2/3 of the border with Mexico: 1200 miles. Our border is not dry land and straight lines on a map, as it is in most of Arizona, New Mexico and California. It is a river that winds back and forth.

Our Nation is a Constitutional government, built on inalienable rights that are endowed by God on individuals, not the government. Taking private land and destroying the rightful and productive use of private property for an ineffective fenestrated wall is not Constitutional.

Nevertheless, in order to make up for the failings of the Federal government, Texas has budgeted more than $150 million dollars of our State tax money for the next two years (and similar amounts at least since 2005) for border control, including the Governor’s Texas Ranger Recon team, the Sheriff’s Coalition, State guards and dedicated DPS personnel and helicopters. In addition, the Governor has spent money from his office budget to supplement enforcement. We also spend much more on local County and city law enforcement efforts to block entry and to prevent illegal aliens from moving through the State. We spend a total that’s greater than these funds on prisons and courts to jail the illegal aliens who break laws after the Federal government did not do its job.

The Federal government should be protecting us from illegal crossings at the river, not several miles in. The incursions by coyotes and their customers, the armed and armored drug cartels and “other than Mexicans” should be met with armed troops and border patrols who are empowered by Federal law to carry out a mission to enforce border control. Increase air surveillance and increase border patrol personnel, but don’t destroy our citizen’s liberty for a semblance of security.

How far will you go to infringe on the right to liberty and property of Texans, even if it kills farming and ranching on private property in South Texas? Where there is a wall in place, it’s perforated with open gates or gaps with no gates. It can be breached with a 14 foot ladder and/or a truck. It divides private property, cuts off homes from the rest of Texas, and cuts off cattle and farmers from rightfully accessing the Rio Grande. (That reminds me of Reagan’s “Tear down that wall.”)

Perry is NOT a Villain... that is absurd... what he is... is a career politician... and I mean that in the very worst sense.

Hilarious video. “In his own words” — his words are fine, but I assume it’s the mis-interpretation of his words that someone interjected into the video that interests you.

I’m reading his book, and I listened to what he actually said, and I’ve read quotes from him, and look at the texas record, and I can see exacrtly why Sarah Palin believes Rick Perry is a conservative.

Are you sure you want to call Sarah Palin an idiot? I don’t think she’s an idiot, and I don’t think she’s ignorant — she knew the record in Texas over Perry’s first two terms when she said these words: “He walks the walk of a true conservative.”

But you say only an idiot can believe Perry is a conservative. Palin believes he is a consvervative. So you are calling her an idiot.

This is the problem with name-calling in the place of an argument. I know a there are some freepers upset that Perry is gaining traction, but calling people idiots isn’t going to win them to your side.

And I forgot, a lot of the “perry’s own words” video were actually Lou Dobb’s own words.

I guess debating the merits of a particular highway program that no longer exists is an interesting diversion, but Emminent Domain is actually in the constitution, and it’s hardly a conservative principle to suggest that states can’t build a road if a homeowner refuses to sell the land to them.

Really, the TTG argument was an immigration argument. Nobody thinks Lou Dobbs would be against a highway that makes commerce easier if it wasn’t for where it was taking things from and to.

Well, for me, the best reason to support Perry for now is the intensity with which the main stream media hates him. That is close to a ringing endorsement...
