IMO, people in this country are poor by choice. We have every opportunity to make of our lives what we want. I know I could have been a lot richer if I had the ambition to do so. The fact that I’m not is no one’s fault but my own. (except for what the government has stolen from me):p

everyone places their time and energy into what they value most - there are more important things than accumulating wealth
