Questions Raised After DOE Hides Costs Of Energy Projects

The Department of Energy has removed from the public eye the total cost of renewable energy projects backed by billions of dollars in federal loans, in response to requests from recipients.

The loan guarantee program, which has come under fire by a Republican- controlled Congress, has committed more than $30 billion to 42 renewable energy projects since 2009, when the federal stimulus bill allocated capital for this purpose. Each project is listed in detail on the DOE's website, but the costs were recently taken down.

"We are committed to providing the public with as much information as we can, but we also have an obligation to avoid releasing business or procurement sensitive information," wrote the DOE spokesman in an email.

Liberals do not understand economics.

Liberals do not understand business.

Liberals do not understand math.

Liberals do not understand science.

They do, however, understanding lying, sleaze, women killing senators, tubestake worshipping congresscritters, and tax evaders.

When CW-II comes, I beg all to make sure that these sleezebags do not escape, so that we can deal with them in an appropriate manner.

read the whole article and one tiny detail pops up in about the 6th paragrah - this loan program started in the GWB era. So someone in the congress said lets do it and GWB signed off. In good times they wated money like it was their inhertence from a rich uncle.

Yep, Bush started it and Obama expanded it.

It would be nice if someone had a screen shot before the costs were taken down.

Even Palin has spoken out somewhat in favor of alternative energy sources. But that is in conjunction with traditional energy. Bush had the same philosophy.

The problem is that the liberals want to overturn traditional energy and re-make the world into a utopia running solely on green. Obama took the idea and ran with it.

Who is this author?

“The loan guarantee program, which has come under fire by a Republican- controlled Congress”

“has committed more than $30 billion to 42 renewable energy projects since 2009, when the federal stimulus bill allocated capital for this purpose. Each project is listed in detail on the DOE’s website, but the costs were recently taken down.

The move is unusual for the Obama administration, which in general has been more forthcoming online with government spending data than previous administrations. However, some critics, especially from Republicans, have complained that the DOE has withheld key information regarding the loan guarantee program in particular.”

Ah, another chapter in "The Most Transparent Administration in History."

Although one could argue they ARE the most transparent - the most transparently stupid, the most transparently politicized, the most transparently contemptuous of the law, the most transparently in love with the sounds of their own voices ...

what bothers me is not who started it, but that nobody and I mean nobody thinks that closing one of these is a great idea. That is why we have waste fraud and...in every darn part of the gov. Heck we have to start some where and work at tiny things till we get the whole thing cleaned up.
