As for your question about playing the DVD on your computer, I have Windows XP same as you and you probably already have "Windows Media Player" installed as part of Windows XP with which you can play DVDs. If you are hard of hearing it would help to get a set of headphones to plug in to your computer to play the DVD. Windows Media Player is just a software program that is on your START list. I am a lot older than you, but I am learning this stuff all the time and getting young people to teach me and you can do it too.
