I used to live in Dodge City, KS. not an expert on Wyatt Earp but according to Western historian Louis L’Amore, the idea of a single gunman saving a town from outlaws because the citizens were all sheep is nonsense.

He said most of those people were veterans of the War Between The States and were not scared of anything.

I suspect most flash mobs on the other hand are composed of cowardly bullies who would probably not stand up at all to an armed citizen unless they had him caught unawares.

I agree with Louis L. from everything I have read it rarely (if ever) was one man against a mob. Look at the James gang and the Northfield escapade. That said I am almost certain Earp was in over 20 gunfights and was never hit - not once. In VN we called that having the glow.

Agreed. However, it seems that most of theses black flash mob attacks occur in gun free zones - cities/states without ccw. For example, Decatur, IL: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2771862/posts

This black violence has changed they way I think about concealed carry - I used to think that the j-frame was adequate, but now I'm looking at the XDM 9 with 19 rounds.
