Cheap at the pump (or whateve final delivery system) does not mean that energy was cheap. We paid for it in more ways than at the retail level.
And it won’t be ‘cheap’ anymore ... even at the pump because there is more competition now for energy.

Again, please describe "competition for energy". Do you mean demand? Increased demand can raise prices if it is not met with increased supply. Competition usually lowers prices.
