For just basic audio a lot of MP3 players have a record function, not usre how good the audio pickup is on them.

That, of course is AN edited video...
Correct. And if the video they make corroberates your side of the events against a cop's story, you can bet the video will be "lost."

Even if most of the cops in your area are good people, one of the problems I have seen is that the police have a tendency to defend their own. When and if the truth comes out, they may backtrack some. But until it does, you can’t defend yourself against them because it is your word against theirs.

“when it works” is hardly a resounding endorsement.
i needed a small camera for some lego competition work on the cheap as a volunteer... found this “pen” for about 75 bucks... bought three to surround the robotics course... charges in the usb port... i couldn’t get the data info off screen with the instructions they sent... but was impressed with the quality of the video for the cost and the audio...
as a throw away camera i enjoyed it... it is quite possible that it may not be accessible after the capture, but most of the time it is...
