Beyond those aliens whose documents were obtained by fraud or governmental malfeasance, the term "undocumented immigrants" is Orwellian misspeak on many levels.

First, its use of "undocumented" to replace illegal would make shoplifters undocumented shoppers and trespassers undocumented guests/visitors.

And in the case of millions of illegals, even the word "immigrants" is a misuse of the word, whose true historical and traditional meaning can be found in a comparison to the word for another type of migrant.

"Immigrants" migrate from their native country to become part of another country.

"Colonists" migrate in another country to make it part of their native country.
