Iran "discreetly" provided humanitarian aid to Libyan rebels before the fall of Tripoli, Jam-e-Jam newspaper quoted Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on Sunday as saying.
"We were in touch with many of the rebel groups in Libya before the fall of (Moamer) Kadhafi, and discreetly dispatched three or four food and medical consignments to Benghazi," Salehi told the daily.
"The head of the National Transitional Council (NTC), Mustafa Abdel Jalil, sent a letter of thanks to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for having been on their side and helping," he added.
Since the Libyan uprising erupted in mid-February, Iran has adopted a dual approach—criticizing the Kadhafi regime for its violent assaults on the rebels while at the same time condemning NATO's military intervention.
On Tuesday, Iran "congratulated the Muslim people of Libya" after rebels overran the capital Tripoli, but it has so far distanced itself from officially recognizing the NTC.

If Obama really is a radical Muslim, wouldn't YOU expect Obama to support Al Qaeda as they take over Libya? How about Obama enthusiastically supporting the Muslim Brotherhood as they take over Egypt?
Obama wants to give US Tanks to Egypt. See any POSSIBLE scenario WHY the US needs to supply tanks to Egypt?
Do you see any link between Obama DEMANDING Israel withdraw to pre-1967 borders and the UN demanding that in September? You might (and I mean it's a BIG maybe) get it when Obama does NOT block the UN demands to withdraw to pre-1967 borders for the Palestinian state that every President has had high on his list of want to do's for decades.
You might NOT get it until Obama joins the UN in attacking Israel when they refuse to withdraw to their undefendable borders that Obama and the UN want them at.
Will it take an attack on Israel for America to finally see Barry Hussein Obama is not who the media says he is? Will it take US Tanks supplied to Egypt rolling into Israel attacking alongside Obama ordered US attacks?
I'm not sure Americans will understand even then because the MSM will still lie about who our radical Muslim President is.
