Al Gore in 1988 was positioned as a conservative democrat, and he had to be since he was from Tennessee. He and his wife Tipper were famous for their campaign to rate music, cds, movies, etc. They were favorably spoken of by Eagle Forum and Focus on Family.

They were southern conservative democrats.

Al Gore was not a "conservative Southern Democrat." That is a lie spread by the Perrybots to justify their man's cynical partisan behavior. Algore's voting record is clearly recorded. Go to the American Conservative Union website and look it up. He had a worse ACU rating than Demonrat Patrick Leahy of VT. Worse than Jay Rockefeller of WV. The ACU website also documents Algore's pro-abortion voting.

Not only that, but almost 20 years later, Slick Rick continued to endorse liberals, backing Rudy Giuliani for the Republican nomination.
