Texas Governor Rick Perry has been among the most vocal critics of President Obama’s health care reform initiative, and of Mitt Romney’s preceding health care program in Massachusetts. But in 1993, while serving as Texas Agriculture Commissioner, Perry praised the efforts of then-first lady Hillary Clinton to reform health care, a precursor to Obama’s health care reform efforts.
In a letter to Clinton, who is now U.S. Secretary of State, Perry wrote: “I think your efforts in trying to reform the nation’s health care system are most commendable.”
“I would like to request that the task force give particular consideration to the needs of the nation’s farmers, ranchers, and agriculture workers, and other members of rural communities,” Perry continued, noting his administration’s focus on economic development for rural Texans. “Rural populations have a high proportion of uninsured people, rising health care costs, and often experience lack of services.”
“Again, your efforts are worthy,” Perry concluded, ”and I hope you will remember this constituency as the task force progresses.”

Well as someone who is not a Perry fanatic, but someone who reads the posts before commenting... I mean, the title of the article was "RICK PERRY's CAMP DEFENDS 1992 HILLARYCARE PRAISE".

Pretty easily, actually. At the start of the process, before anything was proposed, Perry commended Hilary for trying to reform the healthcare situation, and asked her to remember the needs of rural farmers and ranchers. Now, if you can point to ANY evidence that he supported Hilarycare, the proposal that was presented to Congress in the fall of 1993, then you might have an argument. If not, then this is pathetic and desperate sniping by supporters of a bunch of also-rans.

This is not a Palin thread. I simply have said, “she isn’t running” and criticised the delay mightily. That is hardly a dig. It’s a fact. I mean, has she announced and I missed it? No need for me to criticise her methodology. Now, few care actually. It just doesn’t matter.
And Governor Perry thought Health Care Reform in 1993 before all the details were released.
Nowhere in that quote does it show he supported a big government health monstrosity like RomneyCare or ObamaCare.
There’s two sides to every story. Palinstinians should know that by now. They’ve caught more than their own share of B.S. Flack over the past few years, but now they are participating in the same exact game against Rick Perry.

Isn’t it funny how those who won’t support Sarah because she “can’t win” continue to clamor for her endorsement? If your boy is so great, he shouldn’t need her endorsement, should he? Frankly, if her endorsement is that powerful, I don’t know why she wouldn’t run.
Seriously? The letter praises nothing about “Hillarycare”. Perry simply praises a task forces “efforts” into investigating issues and then goes on to suggest other areas that should be focused on.
Everytime one of these things pops up, I have to read the article for myself since I know the reading comprehension crew will have fail to grasp the full meaning of what was written.
You might want to go back and read the entire letter. It was before anything was known about hillarycare and he was making a pitch for rural farmers.

I’ve actually got more respect for a principled RINO than for an opportunist RINO posing as a conservative for personal ambition.

If Perry was the Conservative he now wants to run as, he would have written Hillary telling her he hopes her proposals would keep the Federal government out of the way of Texans providing solutions in Texas for health care and health insurance needs of the citizens in their state.

No one was saying such a thing against her when she endorsed them. She wasn’t running for anything. She was the popular conservative of the time. Still is. She’s just not the ONLY popular conservative.
Sarah Palin seems to follow Ronald Regan’s 11th commandment - she has good things to say about a lot of Republicans (including both John McCain and Rick Perry).
I keep telling you out of staters...Perry is not as conservative as you think ge is. If he is elected as president he will govern from the middle not the right. So if you want An establishment candidate with an accent...he’s your guy!
