I mean, seriously, the last republican I can remember is Ronald Reagan.

And Reagan's legacy isn't exactly firewall conservative either. He signed into law the Military Ex-Spouse Protection Act (which screwed countless military members out of part of their retired pay), along with the infamous amnesty of the then three million illegals. That said, I voted for him and am glad I did... but the Gipper had his faults as well.

You forgot that as Governor, Ronald Reagan enacted a massive tax increase and signed what turned out to be the nation’s most permissive abortion law. In 1978, Reagan helped defeat Prop 6, which would’ve barred gays from teaching in public schools. And for those getting spun up on the TTC, NAFTA was Reagan’s idea.

Ronald Reagan is still my favorite President and the gold standard for conservative candidates. But, let’s remember his actual record.

“And Reagan’s legacy isn’t exactly firewall conservative either.”

He also did a giant amnesty program, and legalized abortion in California (for which he later repented). He appointed Sandra Day O’Conner; he had Bush the 1st as VP.

Not to insult my favorite modern President, but DoughtyOne, there is no perfect candidate. For someone to support Perry (I haven’t issued my endorsement yet, although they are all clamoring ;) ) is not RINO in action.

People are sifting through, deciding who they think the best overall candidate is on any number of levels. For some of them, Palin isn’t it. That doesn’t mean they are liberals.
