Also, a quick note : In my area, after the storm I was walking around “Pretty much open carry”. I received no flack from anyone.
All of my holsters are ITWB concealment type. This day I wore a tighter shirt that was ridden up on the grip. I would start a dedicated thread to my carry, but it’s not worth it.
I had to pump gas at a ghetto gas station. The line was long, and the crowd was ROWDY. The gas pumps were completely covered with graffitti, as were the floors of the convenience station. There were about 20-30 kids outside banging on cars, walking on hoods, yelling and screaming.
All of them - White, ages 11 to 18. The black kids were hanging out in the shadows asking to borrow money from anyone walking by. The store owner was locked up behind the glass. My gun - At the ready and shown to the crowd. No one said or did anything (while i was there).
The poor souls desperately needed antiseptic to treat their severely injured friends ...
I talked with a nurse who was in NOLA for Katrina. She said the last busses and Amtrack left town empty. Those able bodied enough to get on often stayed for the looting—and some stayed to protect their property.
That's why I refuse to ever evacuate.
Are the looters white?
I dont have anything that will shoot that far, but I appreciate you asking."
Right state for use of lethal force to defend property. We need to enact similar laws in other states.
The choice is, do you want to stay and be miserable and endangered for 24 hours, or do you want to evacuate and be miserable and endangered for 4 days.
After Ike in 2008, a guy got shot, wounded only, trying to steal something from his neighbor.
The sheriff’s dept didn’t even waste their time filling out the paperwork.
Just asked the guy that did the shooting if he would come in at his convenience when everything was back up and running, and give a statement.
>What color are the looters??
Green (with envy).
The looters need to be red ... leaking from the numerous perforations in their bodies.
Those darned Amish ,as usual.
Well I suppose if you had a boat...
Because the authorities probably requested/advised/ordered them to evaculate. With justification - you don't want to be in a beachfront home when there's a hurricane on it's way with a possible 8 foot storm surge.
Big deal! Same thing happened in Japan! /s
Here in Virginia, when they issue evacuation, the difference between “mandatory” and “voluntary” is if it’s mandatory they say “you can stay, but if you get in trouble we ain’t gonna come get you.” They can’t make you leave, but you’re on your own.
Does it matter? Crime is crime regardless of color. No passes given for skin shade.
You can if you control your breathing and gently squeeze the trigger.
Bingo, we have a winner !
