Is being lesbian, "gay," bisexual, or transgender a special talent? FRC's Peter Sprigg says a church-affiliated college in Illinois apparently thinks so.
Elmhurst College in suburban Chicago has added to its application form a question regarding sexual orientation, making it the first school in the U.S. to do so. Reportedly in an effort to increase campus diversity, the 3,000-plus-student school is asking applicants: "Would you consider yourself to be a member of the LGBT community?" (See earlier story)
Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council says the school is treating those who identify themselves as homosexual as a privileged class. "As though they consider that a desirable characteristic, like playing the cello or ... being a good basketball player. [They're essentially saying] if you're LGBT, that's a special talent we want represented in our student body."
Sprigg points out that LGBT students could qualify for scholarships worth up to one-third of the tuition at Elmhurst, which is affiliated with the United Church of Christ. "It illustrates again how absurd the notion is that homosexuals are profoundly victims of discrimination in today's society ....," he states.
Elmhurst, which offers a focus on LGBT issues in its Intercultural Studies program, claims that answers to the question will not play a role in the admissions process. The president of Elmhurst, S. Alan Ray, says the question was added this year because it allows the school "to live out our commitments to cultural diversity, social justice, mutual respect among all persons, and the dignity of every individual."
A pro-homosexual organization, Campus Pride, has congratulated Elmhurst for "setting the bar."

Agree. Everyone should answer YES. If we are all some special thing then nobody is. They have done the same by giving everybody an award, making everybody special no matter lack of achievement or talent. It is only fun and special to be “different” and we can take that away from them. Then maybe we can also make them understand that if everybody were given a million dollars that nobody would be rich, if everybody is given straight A’s the A’s mean nothing. I hope your idea catches on.

It was never about being tolerated or left alone; it’s always been all about promotion of a lifestyle choice and facilitating recruitment into it’s ranks. Before long, they’ll be making the point that if a person is exclusively heterosexual, they’re “handicapped” and in need of counseling. The tip of the spear of this movement are the radical gay feminists looking to recruit as many unsuspecting females as they possibly can because they know that if they can get to the young ones early enough, they can turn them to, at a minimum, a bi-sexual life style. It’s all about power and ultimately about dominance. Christians being as weak a force as they are in the U.S. are helpless to counter this movement. The radical Muslims on the other hand..........they got a special stoning pit for the gay activists. So, as is so often the case with the Libs, they’ll be the unintended victims of their own policies. By embracing the Muzzies in the hopes of marginalizing the Christians they hate so much, they’re importing the very people who will burn the Harvey Milk types at the stake!

The solution, of course, is for all applicants to state they are gay.

Are you kidding? 20 years? If we don’t turn this around, in 10 years or less parents will have their kids taken away by the state if the parents don’t want their kids to undergo mandated sexual orientation sex ed with GLBT counselors.

I think there has been another article about this but I didn't ping it, hope this isn't too many pinged out about this. So now homosexuality is not to be tolerated, or even accepted; now being a sexual pervert means being Nature's Nobleman (or Noblewymyn as the case may be). Special Queen for a Day treatment if someone is a mentally ill sex pervert. Parents thinking of sending their wet behind the ears younguns off to higher educational institutions need to take note and cross this one off the list.
