How was he admitted? If he crossed the border illegally then he shouldn’t have an SSN. If he overstayed a visa that allowed him to work in the US then he would have gotten an SSN legally.

Thanks all for spreading the word. Note the following comment on the CBS Boston messageboard...think of the aliens who try to get in as citizens LEGALLY but others jump in line ahead of them--why bother doing it legally when it's much faster to get these benefits, etc., illegally?

In the summer of 1999 I arrived in this country on a legally obtained visa. Since then I have followed the US Immigration’s procedures, rules and regulations and now enjoy being a US Citizen. Can anyone please explain to me why I did that ? Why did I spend so much money in legal fee’s, application fee’s etc when the Federal/State government obviously have no interest in actually enforcing the Immigration Laws
