I Earned These Entitlements

I earned these 'entitlements'

I believe that most citizens do not understand what a federal entitlement program is. There are earned entitlements versus a special government entitlement that is given to an individual who needs assistance that is mandated by law.

What is a government entitlement? Note below that some are free and some are not! Why the government is lumping these programs together is beyond me: Only Congress would think this was a proper thing to do. How can a program like military retirement be linked with food stamps? The programs I am associated with should never be diminished by the federal government because they are either paid for by me and my wife or I have earned them. Most citizens believe all the federal entitlements are giveaway social programs and that is not true.

So that makes it ok to rip off everyone else? Oh please. Liberal style thinking, once again.

OK.... I will volunteer to do my part right now... I have been robbed of over 350K during my lifetime... I will take a complete buyout of 175K...that is half of what I paid in...give it to me in one lump sum, and that would mean the other 175K would be my gift to the next generation....

“I paid a life time of work for my entitlements Soc Sec and Medicare through mandatory payments.”

No you didn’t. You paid a life time of work for those receiving the benefits while you were working. Hopefully, your kids and grandkids will be willing to work their lifetime to provide the same benefits to you. (or hopefully not....)

No, I was clearly NOT paid the amount that went into social security, and it is a substantial amount. So pay me that, and I’ll let the rest go. Oh, wait, you retirement thieves don’t want to do that either. You’d rather make those of us who were productive in life pay for those of you who would rather let someone else pay the bills.

The. Money. Doesn't. Exist. The only way you get anything is if you steal if from the next generation.

Are you prepared to do that in order to get what you feel you are entitled to?

I am 54....started working at 14...that would be 40 years of paying into the system.....now that i am so close I can taste it, I got a group of self centered ignorant arrogant people calling me greedy....for wanting, no, DEMANDING nothing more than what I paid in...I would bet not a one of them has paid a third of what I have into the system...

Each of those $350,000 were paid out to someone else the same year you paid them in. Your money is long gone. SS is a Ponzi scheme and you’ll be very fortunate if you receive 25 cents on the dollar when it’s time for you to start drawing.

Furthermore, the maximum annual contribution is a little over $6000. Have you been contributing for 58 years?

The difficulty with the terms “liberal” and “conservative” is the liberties pursued, and values conserved, keep shifting.

535 congresscritters plus 9 Supreme Court Justices and One President are totally responsible for the laws and conditions under which we live. If they didn't WANT THEM to be that way and for you to live this way it wouldn't happen. To correct the problem...remove the cause.

How is this different from a corporate pension plan in a corporation that goes broke?

Essentilly, you’re saying the Feral Gov Corp, which is now broke, and whose officers you elected and re-elected despite the obvious ponze scheme (SS) they were pulling on you, is gonna have to take money at the point of a gun from generations of others because they promised it to you.

I also like this, “Well, I worked TWENTY WHOLE YEARS for the military/Post Office/etc, so I should get others people’s money (taken unto the fifth generation at the point of a gun) so I can quit work at 40 and either do nothing or get another job and another pension and STILL retire long before non-gov workers.

“Entitlements are OWED” you by people who made the promise - get the money from the personal accounts of the politicians you elected, and leave the fruits of MY labors the hell alone. I, personally, owe you nothing, and I would never dream of expecting, let alone demanding, anything except personal, patriotic satisfaction for my service to my country.

Let me correct myself. The correct word to describe you is not “greedy”. It is “thief”.

If everyone agreed to that, we wouldn't have a problem. Not sure $175 is the right number but the concept is sound. Unfortunately, while I suspect you are a responsible person, you know what would happen. A big chunk of the population would spend their $175K and come screaming for more. The press would be full of stories about old people freezing to death (without any story about how they squandered their lump sum payment) and Congress would pass a new Social Security program.

If they succeed in eliminating social security (and obviously, no chance of them repaying all the money they took out of our paychecks for all those years), what’s to stop them from confiscating your 401k and other retirement benefits?

they will be going after 401ks. but they will grab safety deposit boxes first. like they did during March in London

Do you think that every employment contract is corrupt?

any employment contract agreed to between politicians and union bosses where the taxpayer is on the financial hook has a massive dose of grift and corruption, yes.

i have zer0 problems believing this.

Who elected those corrupt politicians?

You are calling someone who has been productive 40 years of his life a “thief” for wanting to collect what has been promised? You, sir or madam, are much worse than a thief. You’re a lying thief.

Nonsense. He wants money to be taken by force from other people to be put in his own pocket.

If he was so productive he wouldn’t need to steal from anyone else to support his lifestyle.

Money doesn’t grow on trees, and if you think it does you’re no different from any other leftist.

So which is the liberal and which is the conservative: the voter who votes to “remove the cause” or the voter who preserves incumbency?

I put 20 of the best years of my life, 17 of them at sea, into the United States Navy.

you put your life at risk for the country. you are entitled to a pension. i have zer0 problems with that.

in addition, if your check was docked for social security along the way, you are also entitled to social security benefits.

in both cases, you paid in via direct contribution or risking your life and well being for the country.

consider the county clerk. 20 years. behind a desk. no risk to their life while earning a very stable and above average salary. why should that person receive a pension? same with teachers.

if these were private, i wouldn't care. if they were making well below average salary all those years, i wouldn't care.. as any pension would really be a sweat equity payout.

i'm talking about the school superintendent making $280k/yr ... then retires to pull in over $200k/yr. why should i ever agree to fund that???

Well, we’ll see what you say when they finally come for your private retirement fund. After all, no point in taking it out of bank pockets to feed your greed, right? Surely the banks need it more than you.

“Entitlements are OWED” you by people who made the promise - get the money from the personal accounts of the politicians you elected,

And unfortunately, they are dead. Anyone who wants to get angry about how the Social Security "promise" is not being kept should go to the graveyard and scream at the graves. In fact, they should go to the graves of their dead parents or grandparents and scream at them. They are the ones who got the windfall. The should go to LBJ's grave and stamp and spit on it if they want to. They should go to Hubert Humphrey's grave, or FDR's, JFK's or RFK's grave and scream until they are blue in the face.

“what’s to stop them from confiscating your 401k and other retirement benefits?......Once the camel gets his nose under the tent, I think there’s going to be a lot worse to come.”

Anyone who equates government confiscated (at the point of a gun) funds to my investments of my own money, has already fallen into the collectivist mindset. I’d say that the ultimate goal of social security, creating a dependent populace, has been very successful.
