My wife and I live in an area that is neither likely to be flooded nor experience an earthquake. But my wife (bless her) insisted we get both on our insurance, and have had it for 24 years.

I do have a problem with building in areas that are going to be washed away in a storm, and expecting Uncle Sam to pick up the tab AND allow rebuilding.

I guess I can see where there is a once-per-lifetime event where the government helps out there and after that you are on your own regardless of who owns the property after that, but that is even a stretch.

I agree. We have been paying insurance and taxes all of our adult lives. We were just getting where we could finally afford to start socking serious money for our retirement away after putting a child through college and doing the things self reliant folks do in our society. Now Obama wants all of the money we were socking away. I am pissed off at every single thing he and the democrats have done to this country since 2006.The whole thing is an utter mess.

If i knew how to fix it...I’d run for office...lol. We do know that returning to true capitalism and limited government would work. How can we ever get it done though? I fear this country is too far gone.
