I quit smoking when the Navy Exchange raised the price of a pack to 29¢.

Was that the “inside the twelve mile territorial limit” price or beyond it?
Once we sailed past the line a carton of smokes on board went from 3 dollars to 2.50.
We sold them in Europe (when we could sneak them off the ship) for 12 dollars a carton—them foreigners LOVED American tobacco.
