Howie thread for the week starting with his Sunday Herald column. Just before 10 am now, as what is now Tropical Storm Irene heads through the northeast. Here on Boston's North Shore I can tell you from our Eyewitness Weather studio (where I look out the window and witness the weather) that it's light rain, not really windy. (It may pick up later but the storm is weakening though I'm sure it's a lot worse west of here)
Poor Nancy Pelosis rants vs. GOP dont add up

The Botox must be getting to Nancy Pelosi, the former House speaker who until January was (God help us) third in line for the presidency.
This moonbats moonbat has never been the sharpest knife in the drawer, but her latest outburst may be her nuttiest yet.
Late last month, at a fund-raiser in her hometown of San Francisco, she discussed those wonderful days of 2007, when the Democrats retook control of the House and raised the minimum wage. It hadnt been increased for a decade.
It was kept down for the purpose that people would not be able to live on that. Theyd have to borrow against home-equity loans, against their mortgages.
For the record, the minimum wage in California (and Massachusetts) is $8 an hour. How many people making eight bucks an hour can afford a mortgage, let alone a home-equity loan?
Theyd have to live on credit cards, and what are they doing when theyre doing that? Theyre paying fees to the banks.
So thats it! Those bleeping Republicans. Nancy then went down the list of the programs that the greedy GOP is gutting.
You wonder, do their children breathe? Do they drink water? Why do they not care? But they dont. But they dont.
Remember when she used to have her Air Force jet stocked with Johnnie Walker Blue? Wonder what shes sipping nowadays. I double-dare you to diagram this next sentence:
Imagine that they are protecting the tax cuts for top 2 percent, its really more higher than that, lower than that, I mean a higher number percentage of people excluded for who theyre looking out for.
May we quote you on that?
And its a stunning thing because its a few people amassing money that doesnt really make a difference in their quality of life.
Please, tell us what the plutocrats want, you who are worth $35 million yourself.
What more do they want? They have enough homes, the yacht, ya-da-da-da, the tall masts, the whole thing, they have museum-quality art.
Museum-quality art envy. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors goods, Nancy.
They want immortality. They want so much money . . . for prestige they could never get any other way.
You know, like having, say, a hospital named after themselves. Why are these rich people allowed to have buildings named after themselves, just because they donated the money to build them? Everything should be named after liberal politicians like Ted Kennedy, whose building will be paid for not by his family or his estate but by ... us.

Noticed a car with a Tim Cahill for gov bumper sticker in the parking lot at the Cummings Ctr. in Beverly. Still on there.
Is he the reason we still have Deval?
And I noticed the Tim For Governor twitter account is still up. For some reason it wasn’t updated after 11/2/10
