Not necessarily. My Mother-in-Law wanted control - and
in her twisted logic, thought that buying gifts and creating a dependency would give her power. Didn’t work - I never coveted ‘stuff’ and was raised to work, save and be self-sufficient. Didn’t stop her trying though;)

People who would rather keep their self esteem and work for what they have cannot be corrupted. Weak people who prefer to live off of handouts are the ones to which I am referring.
