Thanks for your prayers.
Daughter is up in Baltimore way, seems to be of some notion that she’ll be just fine. Maybe.

Here in the swamps near Rehoboth and other beaches in the Delaware part of Delmarva, Gov. Markell has mandatory evacuation of all “visitors” (do they have some kind of visitor badge to distinguish?) and residents if you live within 3/4 mile from any body of water.

Obviously this sort of edict will not be enforced and this is fine. At times we all need our common sense to guide us, unlike the Katrina people who waited for Ray Nagin and that dipwad LA Governor to lead the way.

I’ve no idea how they came up with that 3/4 a mile from the water rule. Why not a full mile, just to keep down the confusion? Any body of water might seem clear enough but round these parts we’ve got many kind of manmade type of “ponds”...use to run the mills once along this area. They’re now tourist attractions of a sort, they are pretty, often with a big circle type of thing down which the water drains. There’s also a gazillion little inlets and that sort of thing. In short, I think this sort of mandate issued from on high from the Delaware Governor is very confusing. They’re all Democrats, of course, so that might explain.

It’s not much matter except by me it’s a really dumb way to run things. Most of us living round here are going to do what we do. We also have a lot of manufactured home parks in this area, as a tourist locale hosting summer-only residents. Gov. Markell says, from his mighty leadership perch....”DEMA highly recommends if you live in a manufactured home that you leave.”

I mean, if I live in a manufactured home a half mile from the beach I can stay cause DEMA only suggests that I “should” leave? If I live in a manufactured home two miles from the beach I can say cause DEMA only suggests that I leave.

I think the Governor should have said not a thing about manufactured homes is what I’m saying here. There are millions of people living in manufactured homes along the Atlantic coast; they know the danger. The government shouldn’t even get involved in this.

You makr my words, this slipshod leadership is going to come back and bite these boobs.

She will be fine. Eastern Baltimore County will probably get some tidal bay flooding from the wind. Otherwise, probably just some downed trees and power outages.

Every governor and government entity on the east coast is either suggesting or mandating evacuation of manufactured homes in flood planes zones. It’s pretty much SOP.
