Astronomical low tide is approaching, and then that’ll be rising as daylight approaches, and at the same time that onshore winds will be increasing as the center of Irene approaches.
This will be something to monitor closely.

If storm surge causes Lower Manhattan to flood, all that water goes right into the subway tunnels, which will make a HELL of a mess.
