This morning as the storm made landfall I spent some time poking around radioreference.com. I settled on a ham/shortwave relay transmissions. One by one, anonymous radio operators were giving their readings from various places in NC and VA. They were reporting mb as low as the 960’s, even remember hearing one say 950-something. Most said 970/980’s as I recall. “And dropping.”

So, yeah.

Thank you so much for the independent confirmation. Now I fully expect mojitojoe to retract his baseless claim that the NHC was lying about the barometric pressure.

Actually, I doubt he will. He doesn't strike me as having enough character to admit he was wrong and was flinging baseless accusations with nothing to back them up.
