He’s lucky it got diagnosed. Medicine hasn’t gotten a real good handle on this one yet.
His folks thought he had crippling arthritis. Poor kid could not even write with a pencil, it hurt so bad.
He went to hospital three times a week for some sort of treatment.
Lyme disease is as political as AIDS in the 80s. And most of us don’t get diagnosed (DX) till too late and by then most of us can’t get treatment or spend $100,000 to get it,. Most doctors won’t treat it and surely won’t diagnose it. The ones that do, have to have so many lawyers on retainer to fight the government so they are priced out of reach for many of us with Lyme. Our family has lost everything including our home soon due to Lyme, spent all your savings, and the last of my insurance after loosing my dream career and becoming disabled just trying to get DX and then spending what’s left on all the mis-DX and bad/wrong treatments which assured the disability was permanent. Mine were 6 surgeries and cortisone poisoning, which is like candy to Lyme bacteria and almost killed me. Medicare if I ever get it, fighting for 4 years disabled for 5, now have 2 yr waiting period,(probably be gone then) and it will not pay for long term Antibiotic treatment for the chronic form which is the only proven MEDICAL treatment (That’s the politics part if it is chronic Lyme or Immune disease after Lyme). But not being DX for 38 yrs and having positive test for Lyme Bacteria and my whole family half of which is also sick w/ mis-DX Lyme now DX and so much discarded science that they still will not research adequately to find out and they allow a panel of 12 idiots who have monetary stakes in keeping the disease status as is, decide on this. 200,000 people a year catch it and about half never get DX and many of those will get sick, could be 20 -30 yrs later and could look like fibromyalgia if DX with these I mention PLEASE get TESTED for LYME!!! Get the western blot test and skip the Elisa test or insist on both at the same time. Elisa is about 30-40% effective and if it comes back negative they won’t test further and they weed out 60% of people who DO have Lyme that way. MS, Fibromyalgia, ALS, heart problems, chronic fatigue, Parkinson, and my favorite “it’s all in your head” syndrome are all Mis-DX for Lyme. If you have been DX with these please get a Lyme test. MOSTLY FM and CFS!!!
