The lamps and shades moved and the plants on their hooks on the balcony were swaying.
We have a DVD stand that always falls over but it didn't. Maybe it was because the floor was moving ...hmmm...kinda east and west instead of north and south. If had been the other way it would have fallen.
One of our youngest son's friends lives nearby and has a 47 inch TV that came with a earthquake safety wire that he never put on.
My daughter and I felt it here in Central NJ but other people in the house didn’t notice. We didn’t even know it was a quake - we’re used to rumblings from a quarry but this was silent and slower vibrations. Then we shrugged and said oh, well. Kids #3 and #4 are really ticked they didn’t notice. Not fair, we NEVER feel and earthquake!
Your son’s friend might be reconsidering that EQ wiring.
DH’s Aunt lives in Sunnyvale, CA. When she has come to visit us, she has looked oddly at a quilt rack/shelf that hangs over our couch. She always comments on ‘I could NEVER put something like that in CA...’ Lucky, this a rarity.
I did turn on FOX...Shep Smith was admonishing all the fraidy cats leaving the buildings, etc. Turned it off...came here to read about it instead (much, much better FReporting!)
