Yes, we definitely are earthquake snobs here. Anything less than a 7.0 and we yawn.
I moved here from Texas. When I felt my first tremor I practically dove under a table, and everyone laughed.
I bet they did!
My ex just called me. She spent part of her teenage years in Southern Cal, so she was all worked up to feel one here on the east coast.
I told her if we could find a volcano and sacrifice her to it, that maybe the tremors would stop. She didn’t chuckle over it like I did. :)

I’m from Texas, but moved to California many years ago. One of my first quakes was the 7.1 Loma Prieta. I was at work with 2 California natives. After we dove under some tables, I asked if the earthquake was normal. I only got concerned when they both said “no” and they were upset.
I use to freak out at little quakes. Now, I handle ones under a 6.0 pretty well.
