It appears the Diocese of Tucson had an in-depth discussion with Frederick S. Berlin in an attempt to soften concerns about sex abuse by Catholic clergy.
Some resource they got there considering what this guy said about embracing this pedophile group.

It kind of makes me wonder if the Diocese did any due diligence on Berlin before deciding to trust his opinion on the matter. Hate to say it but, were they looking for a more sympathetic view? I shudder at that thought.
