I have been an election worker for the past 20 years. And I have worked with a particularly irritating Dem operative/union teacher/League of Women Voters apparatchik nearly every election.

I remember one election, with a particularly low turnout. We had a couple of college students from the local Lutheran college who had been hired to help out at the polls. This apparatchik kept trying to get these college students to vote, even though they had no interest in the election. I was so proud of those kids — they refused to vote, saying they didn’t know anything about the election. Despite the apparatchik’s offer to “show them how to vote”, they refused.

When I move to a new area, I don't vote for local offices until I get to know the people and local issues. I guess to the LW[D]V, that makes me a less-worthy citizen -- although, if they knew how I vote when I do vote. they'd be fine with it....
