Sen. McCain predicts 'hours not days' until Gadhafi is gone (McQaeda Alert)
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2011-08-21 | Meghashyam Mali

Sen. John McCain predicted that Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi would quickly lose his grip on power amid reports rebel fighters had entered the capital Tripoli.

Speaking on CBS’s Face the Nation, McCain said it was a ‘matter of hours not days’ until Gadhafi’s downfall. The conflict was “nearing the end,” he predicted.

McCain praised NATO forces for their role saying that once they “became more heavily engaged” it was only a matter of time until the Gadhafi regime fell. “We’ll be rid of a guy who has the blood of Americans on his hands,” he said.

Looking ahead to a possible post-Gadhafi future “the big challenge is forming a new government,” said McCain. Of the opposition leadership, he spoke positively: “We can trust them...they can succeed.”

He cautioned that Western nations would need to stay heavily involved, saying that the future of the country would be “up to us and the Europeans.” “We are going to have to help out a lot.”

McCain also expressed disappointment that President Obama did not commit greater American military resources to the aid of the Libyan opposition.

“This conflict didn’t have to last this long,” said McCain. “U.S. airpower could have shortened this conflict dramatically.”

McCain also said that a possible opposition victory “will send a message to Bashar Assad” Syria’s embattled leader. “This Arab spring is echoing all over the world,” he added.

Turning to domestic politics, McCain addressed speculation that his former vice presidential running mate former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would announce her entry into the 2012 presidential race.

Palin “has not asked my advice...I don’t know.” McCain said. He added though that he believed she ”would be very formidable” as a candidate.

If true, things in Libya could become very ugly. Another Yemen?

Exactly, it was supposed to be “Days, not weeks” let alone six months. Of course, Obama decided to intervene AFTER the rebels collapsed in the Eastern Front and were almost routed. What a mess.

How about the Lockerbie bomber, McCain? Or does his get-outta-jail-free card last for life?

McCain said it was a ‘matter of hours not days’ until Gadhafi’s downfall.

This guy must be getting really senile to paraphrase Obamas "days not weeks" phrase.
Or does he think he is being witty?

Looks like Hillary won her little war. She and England & France are about to win—lets see what happens in the next ten months. I bet a new strong man will come forth. The bomber who killed those people in Scotland will not have a long life in a new Libya. The US will not prosper over this but France, Italy, England (and Hillary Clinton) will. Look to see “Free Elections” New drilling by Anglo-French Companies will come—also a new naval base for France or England.

I wouldn't bet on 10 months. But the void will be filled.

I really don't see a benefit for France in using Libya as a port, they have one in Toulon. England has Gilbralter.

We'll see what happens. I suspect we will see lots of UN and NATO weenies park themselves on Libyan beaches for a decade in order to oversee judicial proceedings.

///
Britain has already officially said, they cannot return him to prison.

So then what? Al Qaeda?
///
they’re already there. many sources have reported that for months. Islamists are the MAJORITY of the rebels.

First Egypt given to the Muslim Brotherhood, now Libya to Al-Queda. and all it took was 2,000 + bombs from NATO.
(who themselves admitted killing civilians,
including CHILDREN,
and killing FLEEING soldiers being evacuated by boat.

Isn’t he the traitor who told the hobbits in Congress that Obammy could do whatever he wanted to do in war without regard to the constitution? I think so...

The “Arab Spring” is past. We are now in the Arab Summer, hot as a camel’s behind. Next comes the Arab Autumn (or Fall,) and amazingly it will be hotter than the Summer. But if you want to see real heat wait ‘til the Arab Winter.

How lucky we are to have Zero to guide us and McCain to provide color.

McStain has never met an unwarranted U.S. intervention he didn’t like ... B.O. ,Hillary, and McStain want the region more radicalized so the U.S. will have plenty to keep itself occupied with for the next decade ..
