As Obama's approval numbers began to move in the same direction as the employment numbers some months ago it was easy to forecast, as we did, that Obama, unable to run on his record, would mount a campaign of demagoguery with heavy emphasis on playing the race card.

He is now laying the predicate to accuse the Republicans of being racists if they dare oppose this blatant pandering to prefer one race over others or, more precisely, to prefer all races over one. Not incidentally, we see him also now laying the predicate to accuse the Republicans of racism against Hispanics if they oppose his new amnesty regime.

On the economic front he is doing the same with his forthcoming recovery plan. It does not matter that his recovery plan has been tried to the tune of trillions of dollars and failed. It does not matter that he is attacking a strawman when he alleges by inference discrimination in the government' s hiring practices. It matters only that he will assume the high ground and those who attack that position will be vilified in the media.

Nathan Bedford's first maximum of American politics: all politics in America is not local but ultimately racial.

He's "doubling down". He knows he's toast in 2012 unless he can get some enthusiasm from his base. He wants every black government employee to believe that his job and promotion prospects are completely tied to Barry's re-election in 2012, so they will be active in campaigning and getting votes for him.
