I don’t think anyone is siding with iran here. Personally I am sick and tired of all the hate against America coming from these brainless morons in these fancy universities. I said and will say it again - we should send them 10 years in Siberia and give them a taste of how people live somewhere else and then may be they will love their own GREAT country again. One can hope. May be those 2 will be glad to come back. Then the lesson would be worth it. Sorry - I am a “not born here” American and I cannot stand anymore those American who hates this beautiful country. They don’t know their luck. Well, may be they will now.
I understand & appreciate those sentiments.
"Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves."
- Abraham Lincoln
"He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from opposition; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach himself." - Thomas Paine
That is exactly who I am, too, a not-born-here American. And I don’t mind sanctimoniously declaring here that my heart was a damn sight more American than that of John Kerry, Jane Fonda, John Murtha, Dick Durbin, Pat Leahy, Jim Moran and others way before I took the oath of citizenship. All along this thread, you have been speaking my opinions. I thank you.
There was a great example of this in an 80s movie called "Gotcha."
A college kid takes a trip to Europe and is caught up in espionage. He finds himself running for his life through East Berlin and escapes through "Checkpoint Charlie."
He asks the American Soldier, "Am I back in the American sector?" The guard says "Yes." The kid turns towards East Berlin, flips the bird and yells "F*** YOU!" The American Soldier says, "I've been wanting to do that for two years."
