Dismal poll numbers for Obama in PA
Morning Call ^ | August 19, 2011 | Colby Itkowitz

President Barack Obama, who political experts say will need a win in Pennsylvania to retain the White House, dipped to 35 percent approval among the state's registered voters, according to a Muhlenberg College poll released Friday.

The results come on the heels of a bad week in polls for Obama that showed him first dropping to 39 percent nationwide in Gallup's daily tracking poll. Then another set of Gallup results Thursday showed only 26 percent of Americans approve of how Obama is handling the economy.

These numbers are a huge blow to Obama who won the state handily in 2008, and a significant drop in just a few weeks from when Quinnipiac University polled Pennsylvania voters and found the president with 43 percent job approval.

As bad as the poll numbers might get, here’s the brutal truth:

1. There’s about 40% of the electorate who will vote for Obama or (insert name of any Democrat here). The GOP should quit deluding themselves that at any point in the next ‘n’ election cycles that a majority of blacks/hispanics/jews/gays/single-women-with-child are going to vote GOP.

At best case, these voters get discouraged and stay home.

2. None of the GOP candidates other than McCotter have anything resembling an economic plan. McCotter is pulling less than 1% in polling.

3. The front runners of the GOP are mouthing their same tired old stuff to appeal to the factions of the GOP base: God, gays, guns. Here’s the brutal truth: None of that matters now. Jobs matter most, the economy matters most, the debt level matters most. Everything else should be de-emphasized. Answer questions on the God/gays/guns issue if asked, and then get back to pounding on the jobs issue.

But none of the candidates, other than McCotter, even have an “oh, and by the way... here’s my specific plan on how to deal with our jobs issue.”

The failure to articulate a specific plan for job creation is a formula for losing.

I only push the Democrat Party to dump Obama now, because I want them to stay in his corner and defend this buffoon, Obama, the destroyer of the American economy and nation. What I really want is the total political destruction of the entire Democrat Party at the polls, come November, 2012!!! I am, however, frightened that many Democrat “dirt bags” will throw Obama under the bus to save their own butts!!! The Congressional Black Caucus is in full panic that continued support of Obama will be their political downfall for years to come. And....you know what, that fact is 100% true. If American Blacks in large numbers turn on Obama, watch how fast Obama goes down!!! If American Blacks have any common sense, they will broom Obama as fast as possible. I’m sure they can figure out the reasons why Obama must be forced to resign right now!!!

The Democratic Party became a liberal redistribution apparatus long before the current President took office. Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are doing just as much harm.

There was a poll out last week where 2008 voters were polled and only 42% said they voted for Obama.

I was at a political fund raiser last night and a liberal Jewish friend who voted for Obama told me that he not only gave up on him but was going to register Republican. One anecdote doesn’t make a trend but a consensus of them do. I still have not met a McCain voter who now plans to vote for Obama.

My friend is a strong supporter of Israel, and finally figured out that Obama and is not only anti-Israel, but so is the rest of the Democratic party.

Either that, or vote fraud is a bigger problem than we thought! ;-)

I saw video of that bus tour. Such a tremendous caravan to squire around that pitiful little man. Looked like a dictator trying to pump himself up to look more important than he actually is to all the little people. He’s disgusting.

Fair point.

OTOH, they do start making you smile a little in August of 2011 :-)

In case someone missed the video of Obama’s 40 vehicle caravan on his bus tour. Very small crowd, no flags waving, like a funeral procession for our country.

98% of blacks will vote for Obama no matter what: The only thing that could possiby reduce that number would be if another black Democrat challenged him.

Obama does not have to campaign to blacks, and he won’t waste his time doing so. He already has the black vote signed, sealed, and delivered.

“Obama now negative in NY, NJ, PA!!! Next to come California!!!”

No way. Obama will carry California, NY, and NJ, and has a better than even chance of carrying PA. Of those states he carried in 2008, in 2012 he will not carry FL, IN, VA, or NC.

Going in, in 2012 Obama has a solid lock on 246 EVs. But, I think that’s all he will get, unless he also picks up Ohio; but with Ohio’s 18 EVs he would still fall short of the 270 necessary to win.

“PA voting against King Barry? I’ll believe it when I see it.”

Do something about vote fraud, and watch Pittsburg and Philly go red, like the rest of the state. I would bet on it.
